Many area programs advertise "Survival Swimming Lessons", but do you know what to look for in a true "Survival Swimming Lesson"?
1. Medical Evaluation
All ISR students are medically evaluated and given special instructions to help the instructors give the safest lesson.
2. One-on-One Lessons
ISR lessons are one-on-one for 10 minutes each day for approximately 4-6 weeks. In each lesson, students build and review skills learned until the whole sequence is achieved. For more information on our 10 minute lessons, click here.
3. Testing Out Fully Clothed
Once ISR students have shown the instructor that they have mastered their skills we then test them fully clothed. At ISR of Lake Lanier, we typically swim Monday and Tuesday in regular swim attire while reviewing the test out skills. Wednesday we cloth them in summer attire. Thursday is full winter gear (regular diaper and shoes too)! It is truly amazing to watch them swim-float-swim in clothes.

While you are watching your ISR of Lake Lanier student in the water this July 4th weekend, she will have her eye on the wall or steps. One of the first skills taught in ISR lessons is to open the eyes underwater to look for safety at the edge of the pool, the ladder, or the steps so that, once the child learns the full ISR Self-Rescue™ technique, she can swim-float-swim!
Don't forget YOU have to be the CEO of your child (Constant Eyes On)!
All too often, we hear of tragedies resulting from a mistaken belief that "someone else" was watching. For more tips on keeping your family safe in and around the water please visit view the flyer below!
