Why does ISR of Lake Lanier Not Allow Disposable Diapers?

PictureThese Reusable Diapers are ISR Approved!
We recommend that your child wear ISR Approved Reusable Swim Diapers. Disposable and cloth diapers are made of absorbent materials, and grow loose-fitting and soggy very quickly in water. This allows for fecal matter to leak out of it and into the water...they are also expensive to use during ISR lessons 5 days/week for the average 4-6 weeks.  The material in disposable swim diapers is also harmful to our indoor and outdoor pool filtration systems.

ISR of Lake Lanier will have these available for you to purchase poolside for $5.00 each.  Current available sizes in stock range from 12 months - 3T.  If you need a smaller or larger size please let us know prior to lessons so that we can get that ordered!

**Sizes do tend to run small, so keep this in mind**
ISR also has swim diapers available for purchase through the online Seal Store.  Each newly registered child has a unique coupon code that is emailed after your registration has been approved.  This coupon can be used to redeem merchandise for up to $15.  Apply the code during the checkout process and be sure to spend the full value of the coupon, it cannot be less. You are welcome to purchase additional items and add them to your order, if you desire.

Are you the program that just throws the child in the pool?

PictureDemonstrating..."to place"
I get asked this question all the time.  "Are you the program that throws babies in the pool?" Usually, they also say "That's how I learned to swim.  We did it the 'regular' way.  My parents just threw us in the water and said 'Swim!'".  Interesting...my reply:  "We at ISR do not throw babies in the water...however that's how you learned and I'm sorry.  That experience must have been very traumatic."

ISR of Lake Lanier students are never expected to have aquatic skills beyond what we have taught them.  I can assure you that ISR Instructors will never place a child in the water without knowing they can attain air successfully.  Once a child is fully skilled, we safely place them in water at different orientations to be sure that they can demonstrate the life-saving skills.

Let's also clarify the difference between "throw" and "place":

Definition of "to throw" To propel something through the air by swinging the arm and releasing the object from the hand.

Definition of "to place" Transitive verb to put something or somebody in a particular location or position; to set
