"Is my child too old for ISR Self-Rescue® lessons?" is a question I get almost daily from interested parents. My answer is always "ISR Self-Rescue® lessons are designed for children 6 months to 6 years of age, teaching babies is such a reward and the older students astound me with their budding confidence and determination. The results are just amazing!" I just finished teaching Turner this summer, a six year old boy, who is one of the smartest kids I have ever met! He had his float mastered a few years ago as a student of mine, but he was bound and determined to NEVER get his face in the water! After just one lesson, and some compromising over how many swims to the stairs, he agreed that swimming with your face in the water is much easier than swimming vertical trying to keep his head out. During lessons I said to Turner"Dude! Get your eyes in the water. When you go vertical that is just going to make you exhausted! Turner do you know what a VERTICAL SWIM leads to?" He replied "No." "It's a drowning waiting to happen and you're going to stop that TODAY!" Turner graduated with trophy in hand in only 6 days! Not 4 weeks, not 6 weeks, 6 DAYS!
That leads me into the second most popular question "How long does your program take?" Yes, the average lessons for all students takes any where from 4-6 weeks, but each child is different and each lesson is designed around your student, with an individualized plan EACH day! I have tested out babies in 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 4 weeks and even 11 weeks. I can't stress enough that YOUR child is different and it could take less or more than others. If it's the money that you're worried about, I do have scholarships available for your family to apply for so let me know if you'd like more information!
Again, age for lessons is not a factor to me and how long it takes is not something I set. I know that typically I'm in the water from 4 - 6 weeks. Sometimes less and sometimes more!
